  • Provenance: Tom Nicoll published under the name Scott Studio, and was an early proponent of the leather scene. He established his studio in the mid-1950s in London, and his pictures appeared in many British and American physique magazines, including Tomorrow's Man and Adonis. His male physique photographs of men in leather jackets and on motorcycles popularized the biker image. Bob Mizer introduced Nicoll to the artist Tom of Finland. Nicoll encouraged Tom to begin working with live models and photographs for his drawings, and Tom used some of Nicoll's own work as inspiration (or even Nicoll himself).
