    Visual artist, AIDS activist, and Visual AIDS artist member Hunter Reynolds used performance, photography, and installations to express his experience as an HIV-positive gay man living in the age of AIDS. Diagnosed in 1989, he has used his art and drag practices to address issues of gender identity, political, social, and sexual histories, mourning, and loss. Some of his best-known performance projects are The Patina du Prey's Memorial Dress, The Drag Pose Series, Blood Spot Series and Mummification Series.

    Hunter Reynolds has received many grants and residencies, including several Pollock Krasner awards. He has had numerous solo exhibitions, including White Columns, New York, NY; Artist Space, New York, NY; Creative Time, New York, NY; New York, NY; Momenta, Brooklyn, NY; ICA Boston, Boston, MA; Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, San Francisco, CA; NGBK Berlin, Germany; and DOCUMENTA, Kassel, Germany. His work is held in public and private collections, including the Art Institute of Chicago, Chicago, IL; Yale University Art Gallery, New Haven, CT; the Shelly & Donald Rubin Foundation, New York, NY; and the Addison Gallery of American Art, Phillips Academy, Andover, MA. New York University's Fales Library and Special Collections acquired the archives of Hunter Reynolds.
