Illustration for the story "The Sword of Ahab" by James Edmund Dunning, published in Harper's New Monthly Magazine, August 1904, page 327. Oil on canvas. 648x406 mm; 25 1/2x16 inches, framed to 30x21 1/2 inches. Signed "H. Pyle" in lower right corner and titled in his hand on label, verso.

Provenance: Freeman's & Co., October 27-30, 1975, Lot 308; private collection, Philadelphia, acquired at the above.
