--Group of 8 oversized American stereo ambrotypes on glass, including a child in her casket who is laid out in the family parlor; multiple floral displays in the shape of an anchor, cross, and other symbols; and a rural cemetery scene. Overall size, 4 1/2x7 1/2 inches (11.4x19.1 cm.). Early 1860s. The other-worldly look of these early images on glass, with their ghost-like appearance and attentuated palette, are the perfect counterpoint for the highly-detailed paper images they accompany.
