Group of 13 prints, with many grisly crime scenes, including the police carrying bodies out of buildings and into hearses; cops apprehending criminals; mug shots of a man (misidentified by a newspaper caption as Hyman Gold); a U.S. Department of Justice wanted notice; several somewhat humerous images of ballistics testing; forensic testing; and a photograph of a man and a woman, neatly dressed, before a wall which displays what a sign declares to be "Weapons for Murder!" Ferrotyped silver prints (13), some with retouching, from 6 1/8x8 to 7 1/2x9 1/2 inches (15.6x20.3 to 19.1x24.1 cm.), and the reverse, many with notations, in ink, on recto, and most with various stamps, typed captions, labels, and notations, in pencil, on verso. 1940-50

    John Herbert Dillinger (1903-1934) was an American gangster and bank robber during the Great Depression. With a gang of other outlaws, Dillinger robbed twenty-four banks and four police stations, and escaped from jail twice. He is known to have had cosmetic facial surgery performed to alter his appearance, and possibly underwent a procedure to remove his fingerprints.
