The Czechoslovak State Airlines (CSA) was founded in October 1923 by the Czechoslovak government, with its first transport flight 23 days later between Prague and Bratislava. The airline was dissolved for a time after the German occupation of Czechoslovakia in 1939, but resumed business after 1945. With the opening of flights to Cairo and Ankara after 1950, CSA entered into intercontinental air transport for the first time. The propeller plane, an Ilyushin IL-12, soars over a compass containing the airline's latest flight map.
